Zero Plastic

Plastic pollution in the Earth, especially in ocean environments, can destroy habitats and affect people’s lives particularly in areas that don’t have the funding for proper garbage funding collecting.

Problem

In 2016, the world generated “242 million tons of plastic waste—12 percent of all municipal solid waste.” (The World Bank Group).

By illustrating the amount of plastic waste through an interactive map, we get a better understanding of the scale of plastic waste.

The map shows the daily waste production of each country in kilograms. Each circle represents the total waste production for that country. Some countries are missing circles as their waste generation when compared to other nations is essentially zero.
